About three weeks ago I went to the doctor's office for a physical examination. It did not go well. Despite having always been in excellent health, and my rather large family showing no history of cardiovascular problems, I was diagnosed initially with a severe heart problem. My chest x-rays showed reduced lung capacity and an enlarged heart. The doctor told me my heart was at least twice the size of a normal heart, and that there was cause for concern. I was referred to an imaging and nuclear medicine group to have further diagnostic work performed.

Needless to say, at this point I was quite shocked, it was quite literally the worst news I've received in years.

Today I went back for my results. Talk about highs and lows. The doctor enters the room smiling and says to me I have a very rare condition where an an extra vein is present in my lung and it appears on the chest x-ray as reduced lung capacity and an enlarged heart. However, there is nothing at all wrong with me physically and I've been pronounced to be in excellent health.

I want to thank all of you that have known about this, for your positive thoughts, well wishes, and prayers. I am humbled.

yours truly,

Paul

Jeeeeez!!!!

I HATE to hear stories like these.

My wife and I went through a similar one, involving some idiot doctor who misinterpreted a blood test while my wife was pregnant with our first, declaring that she must havwe contracted German measles during the pregnancy... it took another, obviously more competent doctor, to point out the error... to our OVERWHELMING relief! P.S.: the kid is getting married July 22nd :D :D :D

And besides, ya can't die yet. You still have to teach me to Crappie fish. :D

I think the Dogwoods will be blooming soon. Maybe two weeks.

My brother had a head X-ray when he was in the Airforce ,they told him he had a brain tumor...after more research found out it was just a piece of fuzz on the camera lens.

Jeez Paul...I'm very glad that this turned out alright!

I had a similar experience several years ago. A cancer misdiagnosis. The only time in my life when someone's words made me light headed.

Let me know when you're back through this way - the first 10 rounds are on me!

Good news Paul. I know an elderly may who, late in life had a brain scan and discovered that a good part of half his brain is "dead." Apparently the other half of his brain compensated early on. Lived all his life with this (he's 91 now). Ran boats all his working life including Air-Sea Rescue during WWII. Has made a small fortune investing. If only he'd had both halves of his brain.
