As a newcomer to this forum, I would like to say what an amazing resource! I got such good response to my last inquiry, I am hoping this one will be the same.

I need to find a way to weatherproof the seam between the windshield frame and cabin face it lays against. The windshield frame overlaps the cabin face about 3/4" all the way around, is hinged at the top, and opens out. As a temporary measure I used self-adhesive door weatherstripping, but I need something more permanent, effective, and elegant. It can only be about 1/8"-1/4" thick so the windshield can lay parallel to the cabin face. Something along the lines of a rubber gasket, embedded in a rabbeted groove? Is there such a product? Anything you all know of made for this application?

If you read my previous question posted here regarding the amount of spray my bow throws up, you'll know why this is important.

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

I fixed that very problem by using a 1/4 in dia ball nose endmill, (I supose a ball nose router bit is also available). Cut this 1/8 in deep into the flange area of the window that overlaps the starionary part of the windshield. Using rubber cement glue 1/4 in dia rubber O ring material into that slot. O ring material is purchased from most any bearing supply company. This will give you about 1/8 max compression of that rubber gasket, less in places if the frame or the window is not flat.

Look at some automotive forum resources for older car restoration. They'll have links to companies that sell door and window weatherstripping in different profiles. Most of these can be found by the foot, and will last awhile. Since they're partially hollow, they'll compress and seal tightly. Try www.jcwhitney.com (http://www.jcwhitney.com)

Try Resource Conservation Technology Inc.in Baltimore. Don't know if they have a web site but their ph is (410) 366 1146. They make many different gaskets, and are very high quality.
