I am building "Reina del Llano" (Queen of the Plains), the Caledonia Yawl design by Iain Oughtred. She is fully planked now and getting parts fitted for her outer hull.

Very nice Ken!

Are you planning to sail her on Lake Meade? smile.gif

Lake Mead is about dry cause there's no more water in Lake Powell to feed it. Well almost.

But the Caladonia Yawl is one of my favorite designs and your work, Ken, sure does the design justice.

Thank you for the comments. Yes, it's a beautiful design. Hats off to Oughtred.

Meerkat, it looks like I won't be sailing in Lake Mead. The Southwest is well into a significant drought. I don't know which lakes will have water in them by the time I finish my boat.

In fact, I don't know when I'll finish my boat. It's my first, and I have so many things to ponder and so little time to work on it that it might be a while before it's done. But I am enjoying the process.

I hope to trailer the boat to San Francisco and the Gulf of Mexico (old windsurfing spots), and San Diego. There are some beautiful mountain lakes in Colorado, where my in-laws live.

Norm, how about Lake Merideth? I believe you mentioned that to me quite a while ago. I am only about 2 hours from Amarillo. Do you ever sail in Lake McConaughy(sp?)? I used to windsurf there too.

" how about Lake Meredith? I believe you mentioned that to me quite a while ago."

Well, so I did. I'd forgotten, it's been a while, for sure. Lake Meredith should be a great place to sail you beautiful new boat. I've not been there, only crossed the river above the reservoir in the dark. But I've worked with people who worked there so, what, I'm an expert?

I've not sailed Lake McConaughy (I had to look it up and wont remember the spelling an hour from now). It is a long way from this end of the state. It looks to be a bit bigger than Meredith on the road map but Meredith would be a lot more interesting scenically and it might have more water in it now. The tide is still going out on Big Mac and it'll take several years of abnormally high precipitation in the Rockies to see high tide there again.

I'm pleased you dropped by to show us your boat. She'll turn heads.

Best wishes.
