I've seem M Mike talk about him, I knew he was in Booker T and and the MG's. I knew he helped write "Dock of the Bay", I only found out (in a Wilson Picket obituary) that he helped write "in the Midnight Hour". I looked him up on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Cropper) before I posted this, he also helped write "Knock on Wood" for Eddie Floyd and Sam n Dave. I liked that song so much I named a boat after it.

I think that he may be an American Jimmy Page, in that he was enormously influential in the music of our youth as a session player and rationaliser, without getting much credit for it.

(Page was an incredibly succesful session man before LZ, he did "little help from my friends" and "Gloria" to name two. I'll stop hijacking my own thread.

Cool Cropper website here (http://www.playitsteve.com/) turn up your speakers.
