nice, I'm watching yesterdays F1 race right now.

Is that a BMW M3 or the V8 powered M3 GTR, love the intake whine on it either way.
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

...and speaking of Hans Stuck, what a talented and fortunate German driver. With his current tenure for BMW that completes his sweep of being a factory driver for Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and BMW. Quite impressive!

That appeared to be a flying qualifying lap. When he pumped his fist at the end of the lap he knew he had done the job. Magnificent course, very enjoyable to be in the seat with him. Fantastically dangerous.

The rev limiter sounded well out of order though ... after that run. Cheers Mate.

        Warren.

It's the GTR, Paul. Besides the view out the windscreen, there is an in cockpit camera pointed at Stuck. . .

Have you ever heard Walter Wohrl speak of Has Stuck? Its great dialogue if you get the chance. I've been a fan of both gentlemen since their days of dominating the TransAm series in Audi Quattro race cars.

Is that a bug on his windshield or something else on the glass?

If I'm ever the bug in the "some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug" saying, that's how I'd like to go

Its a fantastic clip . I have it saved to my drive from about a year ago. I can't remember where I got it but its not as complete as that one. Some of the track footage from the beginning is missing.

It seems to be his first run in that car from his comments at the end, although he obviously knows the Nurburgring well.
A friend of mine describes addiction to motor sport competition as like having a huge dose of drug intravenously, from that moment you are hooked.

Q: What's the last thing to go through a bugs mind as it hits the windscreen?
                      A: It's arse!
It's a chip in the windscreen..
At the end he is blipping the throttle to keep the revs up as the engine has no flywheel to speak of.

                        Paul,
                        Yes I saw it.
I'm totally hooked, although the budget restricts activity these days.
I like hillclimbs, and on the first fun at the start line I sit there wondering why the F--- I'm there.
As I cross the finish line, with my knees knocking together uncontollably, I know why.
Climb dance with Ari Vatanen(spelling?) at Pikes Peak is awesome, but I think some people are a lot quicker these days.

IIRC, one of the Millen boys holds the current record for the race a 9 minutes, 56 seconds.

What do you guys think of drifting? I used to think it was assenine, until I bought my new Corvette - my old British cars just don't drift very well...

We won't talk about what set of rear tires I'm on now.

                          Anyways google drifting videos.

Oh and search for World Ralleye Car videos for some really good stuff.

Drifting takes lots of skill, also lots of power, and a car set up to go sideways well.
I much prefer classic motorsport, and besides you are right, old british sports cars just don't have that sort of power.

My mates TR6 never seemed to go straight for very long. Seemed to spend quite a lot of its time pointing back the way it had just come actually.
