IIRC a few of you have HSA plans....
Since I sold out my share in the company my health insurance expires at the end of March. I am still relatively young and in good health so I am looking for HSA/high deductable individual plans. I can't seem to find a HSA plan in New York State for an individual.
The big question I haven't been able to find an answer to is whether the HSA account and health insurance plan have to be intregal? Can I buy an insurance plan and then set up a HSA to fund it?
What have been your experiences with HSA's so far?

I have one, and couldn't be happier.
The HSA has two components that are seperate, by law.
1) The HSA qualified, high deductible policy
B) The HSA money account
My insurance policy is with Blue Cross, has a single $5150 deductible for the whole family, and costs $385 a month for a family of four. My share alone is around $120. Policy availability varies by state.
My money account is with HSA Bank in Wisconsin. Highly recommended.

I am happy with our plan - for my wife and me.
We have the max deductible and make the max contribution.
We just got a debit card that states "HSA Bank A division of Webster Bank, N.A. For Medical Purposes only."
Looks like my insurer is Assurant Health. (Another card to carry in my wallet.)
Our tax situation is such that the insurance is almost free. (Our rates went up this year - the insurance was free last year.)

Thanks guys. I called around and found out individual HSA'a are not yet available in my region of NY. Supposedly several individual HSA plans are coming out in the second quarter.
I called my local chamber of commerce and checked out thier health plans for members. They have a plan through my current insurer(GHI) that is nearly identical to my present insurance plan and costs only $60 more per quarter. Since my company's COC membership is still valid through October 2006, I qualify for the COC plan.

Check State Farm. They sell Assurant (now Time Insurance) and also HSA through State Farm Bank.
Not sure if NY is legal. I know I can sell them in Virginia.
Very popular.
Great website is www.hsainsider.com (http://www.hsainsider.com)
