In the early 80s I sailed in the columbia river near Portland OR. There were two gorgeous meter boats that sailed on the river. There was a red boat and some times a yellow boat. Sad to say it took me a little while to realize they were the same boat. "Trouble" had one side painted yellow the other red. the spinaker was a big blood shot eye. She was a sight to see and I have not forgotten her. As I remember she was built in the 1920s for the King of Sweden and was an 8 meter of about 50'. The last time I saw her she was in Port Madison near Seattle in 1985 or 1986. Her mast was broken [the 2nd time I know about] and she needed some love. I would really appreciate any info on her history or where she is now. Any info about other old race boats on the west coast in need of TLC would also be helpful. Thanks Steve
Damit Steve; It won't fit in the shop!!!!!

Now Bill you know we can just stick the transom out a window. This is a very pretty boat, we could make something work. In the meantime when do we start the canoes? Thanks Steve
Hey Steve;
As soon as the skiff is done, I'll get down and finish up the floor in the barn, get some benches built and we'll start a hobby night.
By the way,....I got that remodel!!!

I'd recommend you contact Scott Rohrer through the site for the R-Boat Pirate. http://www.r-boat.org/ If he doesn't know where Trouble can be found nobody does. ;)
Good luck
Jamie

Thanks all, I have found "Trouble". But alas she is not for sale. So I am still looking for an old race boat. Jamie you were right, Scott Rohrer knew exactly where it is and had sailed on her . It turns out she is an old Fife boat, and is looked after well. Thanks Steve Pearson

Keep in touch with Scott.I'm sure he'll be able to line you up with a wonderful old race machine in need of TLC. I'd recommend you stop by The Boatwright shop, 1150 1/2 NW 46th Street, some Sunday afternoon where you'll find the faithful making the sabbath pilgrimage to "The Church of Pirate". It's truly amazing what they've done with a beat up old R Boat.
I look forward to seeing what you find. It will be one more transom I'll end up watching during the Woodie regattas.
Jamie
Hey Steve;
I'm getting just a little concerned about the direction this thread is heading ,.....you're really not trying to find one, are you?

We need to get her prepped, caulked and painted and decked and then throw here in the water.

Yahoo! I wish I'd been there to see the move. I'll have to stop by at Seaview to check out the progress.

Here's a tempting list of Eights for sale (first win that $315M!): http://www.8mr.org.uk/html_site/main_sales.html. If the lucky winner feels like giving away $150K, I wouldn't mind having Iroquois as a late X-mas gift... smile.gif
