C'mon, tell us the dirty details of off side hole repair.

I filled the hole with bungs and lots of glue, ramming each bung tight up against the next. The old floor was narrow and drilled twice, so I made a new floor. I marked the new hole target, keeping well away from the bungs, and bench drilled it from the trailing edge. I had some help keeping the three-foot bit lined up, and it still deflected. I can't figure what might be causing it to run off-track. I put the 'post on the keel, put the bolt in, and rigged a jig to finish the hole through the floor from the top.

The only casualty was my poor old drill motor, RIP. It was a Craftsman and lasted almost 20 years.

If it took 20 years to drill that hole, then your drill led an easy life! (RIP) :D
I've been waiting to hear the results of this saga as well... Thanks for letting us know what the results were!
