I am starting to consider what kind of paint to use for the hull topside. On the cabin top I used the Two part poly, but the cabin top is fiberglassed. The hull on my 36' ted hood little harbor is double planked mahogany.
My major concern is twofold. First of all, will it it have enough elasitcity. And second of all, I had a shelter over the top of the boat which enabled me to keep a fairly dust free environment,(I sprayed it) .The interlux two part took an awful long time to set up. I will not have this possibility when I paint the hull. The other boats in the yard are way too close. It will have to be either brushed or rolled. The hull is very fair, having been long boarded and primed with interlux 2100. I am open for sugestions, and unlike some of you I consider it a compliment to have a paint job that looks like it could be a plastic boat.

I used the Interlux Two-Part Poly on my boat for the past 10 years. Granted, the hull is epoxy coated polypropolene. I've been able to get 5 years out of each application. The roller and brush method works fine if you have some help. If you try to do it yourself, you can't wait very long or the paint will start to pull. Wear a respirator! I thought I was fine doing it outside last year, but I really started to react to it after just 15 minutes. I'm not sure what yoy results will be on traditional carvel planking. Good Luck.
