We done snagged the sexiest little Catboat in the Northeast :D

That's me and Joe CSOH with the former owner of 'TID-BIT', a 1964 Warner designed cat, a 16.5 foot masterpiece of the boatbuilders art. 40 years old, and I swear she looks as if she was launched yesterday...

It was a cold and rainy day to be messin' about with boats, but the sweet hull needed to be brought down to the Boat Barn, where she could rest up for Spring in comfort...

There's my sweet Dory, moving over to make room for the gorgeous blond with the big hips...

We were all set to name her 'Krazy', after the great cartoon strip of George Herriman, with Ignatz & Offisuh Pup...But we found out that her ORIGINAL name was Tid Bit, and is so noted in the Mystic Seaport Archives. This was a one off construction, built for a hardcore racer in Connecticut in 1964, built by Baum, and never produced again in this design or length...

Seems kind of 'Krazy' to change that 'Tid Bit' of history, no?

We'll be askin' questions, like how to treat the gorgeous 40 yr old teak deck, in 'Building & Repair...

But in the meantime, we're just 2 kids in a candy store, counting the days...

Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus...Only he comes in JANUARY :D

PS Please excuse the hyperbole...I'm just a little excited here...

She's a beauty, gentlemen.

I'm sure you'll treat her right.

Part of that is teaching your children to love her, so she'll have another generation of care, when all of us here are just memories...

I didn't read quite close enough.
It looks like this is a partnership.
Good luck and sailing there too fellas.

That relationship does take some attention.

Did you see my post about Herbie Baum's grandson in the upstairs post.

The yard was technically in Kennebunk lower village, across the Kennebunk river from Kennebunkport.

He was apparently a man of few words, when someone thought that he'd bent his prop shaft, the out of stater pulled the shaft and took it to Herby to have it straightened. Herby took a glance at it and said "tain't bent" and would say no more. The other workers had to persuade this guy that if Herby had said it wasn't bent, then it definitely was not bent and Herby, far from being rude had in fact saved the boat owner a considerable amount of money.

I told y'all that Scot had a weakness for catboats. Joe'll be absolutely unScottable now and forever. tongue.gif What that boy'll get hisself up to, there's no telling. ;) I shudder.

Nice boat boys. :D

Don't forget: When visiting Hancock, MI, be sure to stop in to the Kaleva Cafe for a cup a coffee and a big sticky bun.
