This boat was clocked at 80MPH with a GPS. not today, however, as there was no wind.

That's something that I've always wanted to try. Every so often your hear rumors that the Olympics may take a look at it as a competition sport, but it's probably too complicated to find venues. As I understand it, when they schedule events they have to be flexible with the venues as the ice may be better a couple of miles down the road or it may be better to wait a day or two?
Interesting stuff. Oh yeah, beautiful little boat.

Saturday was thought to be the last good day to sail on the pond, anticipating the snow....We didn't get too much snow, but plenty of wind to send it all to the next time zone!
Ice looks good from here!
Hey, watch how you talk about the "next time zone" ;) !

Howard, you're welcome. We'll send all you can use, and some more for good measure. ;)

I have heard, and occasionally use, the aphorism, "...slicker 'n whale**** on ice!"
And that boat thang is it.

Slicker'n deer guts on a door knob.
A DN iceboat can be built in your garage. With 40 square feet of sail it can reach 70 mph. A Skeeter will reach 120.
