[Sorry...couldn't resist]
Usually, by the time I've consumed a third of a bottle of MacAllan

I'm beyond deliberating on anything more complicated than my navel :D :D
Hatch/Coachroof/Companionway construction is detailed in any one of a number of different books: Seward's Boatbuilding, etc.

Bud McIntosh's How to Build a Wooden Boat illustrates about 3 variations. Many boat plans for boats with cabins also indicate the designer's prefered method. What are you building?

Yeh that was about the size of it, I notice your bottle was full mine has a lot more space (now),a fine dram none the less, The boat I have is a 31' thos gillmer de design 180 and I have very little information on her,but she has a facinating history, on my part I have a rowing back ground, and this is my first venture into larger recreational boat's, I first picked up a copy of woodenboat back in the mid 70's(as it happen's in Seattle' I was on a container ship at the time) and it was a publication with my name on it,we don't seem to have the same passion in the UK, so anyway the companion way sliding roof thing, easy if you want to stay wet,and need's plenty of thought if you need to stay dry, I realy would like to take the stone from the masters hand on this one.
