View Full Version : Ice boats - The "A" class is out !

It looks like the A class ice boats are back out on the rivers where I grew up smile.gif (Navesink River, NJ) These boats are something to see. Some of them have tufted velvet cushions in cockpits that are boarded by little oak pin rails & look like they can 'comfortably' carry four people. You can hear the A class boats come about from probably a mile away as the runners scrape across the ice. Some are family heirlooms that have been passed down through generations. Really something to see.

I always heard that river ice was the most dangerous of all. It must be awfully cold there.

It looks way way way cool!!! I just can't get past the cold thing though :(

With the ice ships flying in your face, the last thing you are thinking about is being cold.
