Well there's some kind of technical glitch, so no picture for the moment...
An interesting weekend for certain...
Saturday morning, while heading out to do errands, I ran into my old friend Brad, who was heading to the dump with a pile of junk, so I asked him if he might know where I could find some hefty angle iron, which I wanted to use to help spread the load impossed by* attempting to pull the keel and gripe scarf together.* "Stop by, says he."* Saturday eve then went off to purchase some more Sawzall blades, some larger size drill bits, 3/4" threaded rod, nuts, washers, etc.* Fun stuff to cut and drill!
Sunday we had to leave for the airport at 6AM to pick up SWMBOjr, and were back about 8.
*
So, as you can see, I got one floor to keel bolt out, and the head of another. * In the upper right corner of the picture you can see one of the threaded rods in place.* This is actually through the hole for an old depthsounder transponder. * The bolt came from a hole just aft of the boat stand.* That hole is all cleaned out, I just need to cut and drill some of the angle iron for support top and bottom, and cut a piece off the 3/4" threaded rod.* That will give me the two easy ones.* For the rest I need to decide whether to simply blast them in the scarf with the Sawzall and drill some new holes, or attempt to get the old bolts out.
Now, for the highlight of the weekend!* I took ashes from the stoves down to the ash dump at the town garage.* There's always a dumpster there with all kinds of scrap metal stuff in it.* Being as I was looking for steel stock, I took a look...** I couldn't believe my eyes - an old worm-drive Skilsaw (model #825 if I remember correctly)!* The blade was quite rusty, but we've had lots of rain of late.* I brought it home, plugged it in, winced, then squeezed the trigger.* It runs!* I think it needs some serious cleaning and lubricating, but I think it's a keeper!
