The Raptor nail thread got me thinking about using my nail gun in the Simmons Sea Skiff project I am starting; Wondering if I could use it to lay up a strip planked side deck like this one by Walt Baron?

I have seen stainless steel nails but they are spendy, maybe the raptor's would work.
Would epoxy be the best adhesive for this? Sorry about the image size; it's a wonder I can even post the pic.

$61/1000 for 2" full round head 316 ss nails is a price I just saw on the web.

Is there a real problem with just using Glv. nails if they are fully embedded?
I mean, I'm building a strip-plank design and the nails will be used to hold the planks while gluing... then full epoxy and glass.
The nails SHOULD never see the water.

I repaired the siding on a house that was more than 75 years old. The siding was fastened with bright 8 penny nails, set with a punch and puttied then kept painted. The nails showed some light rust but no more than you get if the nails are stored in the barn in a bucket. And twenty year old galvanized nails pulled from rotten residential deck planking were completely reuseable, no sign of deterioration.
