Yo!
I have a 1977 no-frills work boat, similar to a lobster boat. Glass over plywood. I want to extend the cabin roof ONLY (no sides) 6 feet back. A friend says canvas from an old tent I have could be ''glued'' to the new plywood roof with a generous application of exterior epoxy paint then saturated with a few coats, the last one with sand in it like the rest of the boat for safety's sake. I don't plan to stand up on it except to maintain the inflatable tied up there.
Has anyone tried this ?
Best wishes of health to all from up North.

I'd just lay the canvas in oil paint, stretch it well, wet it with HOT water, and immediately coat it with another coat of oil paint. When dry, give it another coat of oil paint with as much sand as you want. This should last for 10 years or so if you coat it once in a while with more paint. Epoxy paint over canvas is something you might want to test first on some spare plywood. Although the first method will be waterproof because of the painted canvas and cheaper because you already have the canvas. This method has been used for about 60 years or so with great success I'm told. Good luck.
