That's quite the boat.I'd like to see it in person. The price is sure to go up above $30,000.I would be afraid of what that might look like in two years if I had my paws on it. :D

It sure is a lovely boat.
I can afford the maintainance on a $30k boat, but the boat must be worth the cost of the restoration, $150k, and maintaince on that I can not aford.
but it sure is a lovely boat...
(I walk around all day now saying how lovely my granddaughter is.)

It definitely is beautiful. It's a bit more than I wanted to spend though. Speaking of maintenance, what could one expect to spend maintaing this boat? I read 10% the cost of the boat every 5 years. Is that accurate? Why would the maintenance on this boat be much different than a 30k (real value) boat?
I just found this forum a week ago so I'm new. I'm looking around for a 28-30' wooden boat so you may see me asking many questions.. I've never owned a boat before, although I've sailed.

Very nice! A few questions. How tight seemed can a 40 year old boat be? Would you want it finished bright? If I lived in a sailing area that is the type of minimalist boat I would want!

Slatted bench/berth seats!!! Yes! I knew this sort of arrangement would work and make the cabin look less 'heavy'.
$15,000 US for sails! Does this sound right?
I think it looks good finished bright.
Unusual curved black wood? edge (sheer?) where the staunchions attach. A shallow cockpit (if I saw it correctly) - not so comfortable.
Sister ribs - pitty for the money spent ($150,000 US) that the ribs needing replacement were not replaced.
Perfect size - I don't think you would mind the maintenaince costs - however a boat cover would help.
cheers
Mark

Yeah, I saw her a week ago. The 'covering board'/sheer plank arrangement is unusual, and I'm always a little wary of the unusual, especially at the hull to deck joint, but it could be okay.
If the sistering was done properly, and the frames were basically sound, it's a perfectly good repair.
Not much money for a very able little boat with an interesting history. Wonder what she'll go for.

Back again, with a "buy it now" price of $35,900.

She wasn't sold the first time around: the reserve was $37,001, and the high bidder was $37,000!
Beautiful boat. If I had that much cash on hand I'd think about it.

Paul,
I have a 1963 built 28-footer in mahogany, finished bright... also she doesn't leak at all when moored - sailing her is then a different matter; probably some seams have dried a bit so that some water can get in when heeled or smashing into waves or so.
so this boat could be in really good condition. Should be, with that much money spent in restoration.

Hi All,
I just discovered this thread and thought I'd let you all know that I purchased this boat, had some further work done, and brought her to Europe in 2004. I'm travelling now, but will post some photos and notes when I get back home in a week or so.

It will be interesting to see photos, Stuart. I don't recall a thing about the boat from when I first posted the advert.
