A while back a string talked about using peel ply for a number of things in boat building and many folks highly reccomended it.
So always looking to try something new, I got a roll and used it on this years project.
The results are/were mixed.
When used on the edges of the wet glass it was great, feathered edges with no sanding.
And when used over thin glass that had too much resin applied, fair results.
And put on glass that had a reasonable amount of reason, bad news.
The bad - the peel ply did it's job and sucked resin from the glass, resulting in resin starved areas. On the light/tight weave glass, 2.3 oz, it wasn't too bad, just a "few" starved pockets. But on the thick/looser weave glass, 2.85 oz, that had a just a little too much resin, many areas of starved glass.
The message, be very carefull where you apply peel ply.
