"...The ship has lain in waters only 10m deep since its scuttling..."
Gee, that doesn't seem like much! I'm really surprised that it hasn't been looted already...

Since she is not a war grave, I am also surprised.
Hans Langsdorff is admired in Britain as well as iin Germany, because of his treatment of the merchant ship crews whom he took prisoner.

it is interesting.
but what sort of gobbledegook is this?
"...The ship has lain in waters only 10m deep since its scuttling..."
30 ft depth of water? I don't think so. That would mean substantial chunks of hull or superstructure out of the water.

Must be 10m to the top of it. I once dove on a WWII cruiser, the USS Wilkes-Barre. The top of the superstructure was at 140', the deck was at 210', and the bottom was at 250'. We didn't go to the bottom.

The thing I wonder about is that several of the linked stories refer to Montevideo's plans to make the "restored" ship a tourist attraction. Okay...I wanna see that too. smile.gif

The image is computer generated, based on sonar data.

John B., this is what appears above water as of last year. Passed it on the way to the "Horn". The waters are pretty murky.
