A friend of mine made the documentary. It really is well done and entertaining. The interviews with some of the old-timers are priceless. Juliet was probably the perfect person to do this documentary. She's about as lovely as they come, and the old guys probably didn't want to stop talking for fear that she might leave! Help my friends out and pick up a copy.

Yes, she was very pleasant to talk to and she called me once the dvd was ready which was very nice.
She did a good job with the whole project.
I really can't imagine anyone who is interested in traditional boatbuilding not having one of these.

Very enjoyable. Lots of nice production ideas, too.
Luckily, there are subtitles to help with the accents.

Can anyone tell me if Jim Steele of Brooklin Maine and his peapod production is featured in the DVD?
Thanks

Please note: The WoodenBoat Forum is not for posting buy/sell/swap ads/self promotion I don't sense that anyone on this thread is trying to profit from this DVD. Just seemed like a recommendation to folks here who might be interested. I, for one, was happy to see this info. Not sure why you posted this Hwyl.

There's at least one copy this side of the pond. Nautical lore, technical wrinkles, off-the-wall ingenuity, fascinating characters - what more could you want? The best $20 I've spent in a long time.

I got the DVD today as a birthday present. :D
Anyone up for coming over for a little elbow bending and peapod watching?

Yea Gary , thanks for the post. I bought the CD and am really pleased .Good footage of steamed oak ribs being placed , ect. It's equally about the people .
Like the delicacy with which one of the aged masters suggests an improvement to an apprentice in a training program. This was "about" drilling for stop waters ,but allso said allot about the culture the man has lived in .
There's a certain glint in the eye in allot of the coastal Mainers .Maybe it's got to do with eating allot of good fresh fish . One interviewee who looked to be in her 90's half leapt out of her chair to make a point.
To me it's also about the self employed tradesman in general , the one man shop. It's a way of life that I think will slip away in the US if we don't install some system of Nationalized Health care . Some feel , I think , that degree of autonomy belongs to a simpler past .
