A very good sailmaker

Dear friends,

on Tuesday I've got my new Whilly Boat sail – and I'm really enthusiastic.

Beautiful traditional look, like the old canvas sails, but in modern dacron, cream ivory colour, lots of nice details, e.g. leather reinforcements in the corners, brass grommets – I'ver never seen a sail like this.

I'm very happy with my new sail and like to recommend the sailmaker:

sorry, jetzt hab' ich Dich mit Wolf Huber verwechselt. Irgendwie kam mir Dein Name so bekannt vor, aber klar, Flensburg, Rum-Regatta, Museumshafen, daher kommt's.

Und ja, Mark Butler hat echt was drauf. Man muss zwar Ewigkeiten warten, aber es lohnt sich.

In der Tat! Ich war schon ziemlich überrascht, dass ich eine Artikel in der Water Craft hatte. Ich schreibe wenn, dann eigentlich nur für die WB und für kleinere "Heftchen" (Flensburger Hafenblatt, Piekfall).

Und woher kennst du mich, Museumshafen Flensburg, etc...?

Ein Freund von mir, Jochen Ruoff hat einen Schärenkreuzer auf dem Starnberger See (glaube ich jedenfalls, weil als ich mal mit war, lag das Schiff noch auf dem Ammersee).

Ach ja, Mark Butler ist der Sohn von Peter Butler. Der hat die Smack Yacht KATRINE, die schon 2x auf der RumRegatta war und auf der ich die Maldon Smack Regatta gesegelt bin. Guck mal rein ;)

Good to hear that the fame of the JL loft is spreading.They have made the sails (and rigging) for Patience since 1989. Jimmy was always keen that things should be done 'right' and Mark is running the loft with the same attitude. Ask Norm,,,,,,, that's a Jimmy Lawrance mainsail on Prairy islander. smile.gif Bespoke sails at 'normal' prices.

Martin, many of us are Anglo- Saxons!
Another very good sailmaker is Stephen Hall who has taken over from Gayle Heard as North Sea Sails in Tollesbury (Stephen is ex-JL's).

By tradition, these are the arch-rivals of JL's.

Gayle's grandfather was the last professional skipper of a British America's Cup challenger, so if you want "yacht quality"...
