Gidday Phil... Sparks a beauty mate but sadly not what I was after...

As I recall it {which as I say could be wrong cause me memory is playin tricks on me today} the photos were of a boatbuilding school in one of the Swedish or Norwegian places where they were building a faerling or somesuch small open boat... much sawdust and shavings throughout form my memory Im fairly sure it was a website that someone posted {some reason I think it may have been Martin but I could be wrong with that}... the site was an actual working boatshop utilizing traditional methods as used by the boatbuilders of the time apparently you could walk in and watch them building it... useing axes adazes and such a huge stockpile of bent timbers to select from for knees and the like... but mostly Im remembering seeing the keel standing with the stems attached but after fitting the excess was left on this then went to the floor as part of the stabalizing setup and cut flush when completed... sorta keel timber joined to the stem timber but instead of cutting the stem timber flush to the keel... as my memory sees it there was a young fella weilding an axe to cut the keel timbers down for fitting?... it was left in place... its this particular part Im hunting for... but the rest would be a pretty good bonus and the link to the site would be brilliant!

damn wish I could remember where it went to!

Thanks anyway mate!

Maybe it was a magazine article you saw. Wasn't there an article about the traditional replicas being built with traditional methods? I thimk they mention the article in the latest issue, I'll check later and get back to you.

Yeah the mag has an article... and its good sorry to belabour this but... now Ive thought about it Im almost positive that it was a website in either a swedish or another norse lingo so totally incomprehensible to me but still a good one about building in this manner...
ah well seems its gone from the memory banks of all...

Sorry Shane - it wasn't me that posted this sort of internet site.

Everything you are describing takes place here in Flensburg at the Museumboatyard but I am afraid they don't have a proper site to look at, but if you would like to come over for an inspirational visit feel free to contact me and I will gladly dispose your time in blistering work at the Museumboatyard and hard drinking in Flensburg's harbour pubs :D

... we still have some typical whorehouses in an enclosed street that looks like nothing has changed in 100 years (I hope the whores changed ;) )
