Your Galley is beautiful! But everyones always asking questions about replanking and epoxy/wood bonds - so no chance to show off your galley in a post. Here's your opportunity to post photos of your beautiful galley for the world to see. We'll let you, the experts, decide which is the finest of them all. Please, let the competition begin and start posting. If your modest, do it for the sake of educating a lubber like me(I'm selfishly seeking your best ideas;).

It ain't so much about what you have rather it is what you as a cook can do with what you have.
Been on vessels where the cook worked on an old coal burner turning out 4 meals a day. All of them ACES. Then there was the yuppie type Corian galley with fancy schmancy Itralian appliances and the whoople in the galley was lucky to boil water much less cook a good hearty meal.
I have cooked full meals for 8 hungry shipwrights, 1/2 ham, baked yams, corn bread, gravy, string beans with almonds, baked upside down apple cake, on ( 2 ) electric roasting pans.
Or to phrase it another way...it is the cook who makes the galley NOT the galley who makes the cook.
If ya get my drift.

NONE of my boats have a galley I eat all-rite when Im aboard ;)
I overhauled by Cornish Shrimper and installed a sink, faucet, and water tank and burner, etc and still allows two adults and two kids to sleep in her.
I will post a pic, but she is Glass not wood (shame) and I do not get how to get a pic on my posting.
Let me know if you would like to see it.
Cheers, Bruce

I have decided that I don't have a galley, yachts have galleys, I just have an ice box, a sink, and a cook stove with an oven and a place to sit when we eat. :D

non the less, the right tools or the right layout can have a huge impact on that cooks frustration level in the galley. sure a good cook can get by with poor design or tools - so can a shipwright, but I bet ya Daves got all the right tools in his tool chest, so why shouldn't the cook?
lets see those galleys!

Dunno about "the finest", but if you are after photos for ideas, here is a photo of MAGIC's, in case it helps.
No appliances, though the galley counter top is corian :D

Craig,
That looks nice. I wanted to use Corian, but its pricy. While laminate fits the bugdet, it doesn't fit the ego. I'm going to go price some exotic hardwoods that I saw on sale at the local supplier. I saw some Bocote that looked really cool. I wonder how that would work for a counter top?

Elcoholic,
Wow, very swanky. Just beautiful. I love the counter set up with the cutting boards and the compartments for plate storage. Those are the sort of ideas I'm looking for. We have a wine cellar too - holds four bottles! Thanks for the post.

"Matriarch" was remodeled to handle her new duties as a "wine, cheese and heavy seafood hors d'ovres" cruise business. This necessitated stealing the former crew's quarters but the results were worth it. We have two refridgerators in addition to the 44-bottle white wine cooler, two sinks, a freezer, microwave, ice maker and four-burner electric stove. All will be powered by a 24KW (200 amp) generator head, driven by the port engine at idle, using a Twin Disc clutch. I like to rough-it.

...it's a bit small. smile.gif
A friend gave me this months Vanity Fair mag with the mega yachts featured. Only a look can do justice to the ships. Telling would fall short. In some cases the ship's boat is forty feet.
