The centerboard that you see is just a piece of 1/4" doorskin panel for a pattern. The centerboard is made out of 3/8" steel plate wieght about 85lbs. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid58/p7410ca664bf512045d0e67b4a09b1e87/fc63e1dd.jpg

The Keel has been rough faired and the Skeg dry fitted and through bolted.

Thanks Shane

The name for Bart came from one of Anita's Fathers Dogs so in keeping with that theme.
I will name this boat after one of my own.
Kahula was a Female American Water Spaniel of mine. A Great friend and good little Bird Dog.

Perhaps you've spoken to this elsewhere, but how did you build the transom?

Later,

Phil

Phil
The Transom is 3/4" Mahogany approx 5 1/2" wide with the edges squared up on the tablesaw and edged glued with epoxy. Back screwed and epoxied to the 3/4" frames.
I have left the top long to be shaped once the boat is turned over to match the top frame.
I picked the lighter colored wood in the middle cause I liked the contrast.

So, Darrel, could you remind us folks with bad memories of the boat's vital statistics (length, beam, draft, and sa)? I would appreciate it.

She's looking beautiful Darrel! And I love the name!

The original Bart was a dachshund who litereally thought he could walk on water. Al and I had to net him out of the drink many a time. The dog always considered calm water as nothing more than a huge shiny smooth floor. Fourteen years and he never learned not to jump off a dock - Bart was a terrible swimmer.

"Bart's" Specs are:

Length, overall: 14' - 11"
Length, designed waterline: 12' - 9"
Beam, extreme: 6' - 0"
Draft, board down: 3' - 10"
Sail Area:
85% Fore Triangle: 85 sq.ft.
Mainsail: 74 sq.ft.
Total Sail Area: 110 sq.ft.
Construction: Plywood

Hope this helps, Anita
