OK, I need some opinions. At this late hour SWMBO is safely sawing logs upstairs so I am at liberty to, well dream.

Would this boat be worth it? I would dry sail it and my understanding is that if this is traditionally built then it has to "take up" (and leak) each time it is in the water - true?

If false then I may be interested. Thoughts?

There's probably a good bit more you'll have to fix than what they've already found.

Worthy project at a worthy price. I would undertake the task, if she was closer. I like this boat http://www.woodenboat-ubb.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

I'm not allowed another boat at this time. But if anybody wants to go in on it and sail it in the Silvabay Shipyard Raid,I'll supply all lumber for its repair and try to find a covered shelter for it.A hundred bucks each amongst a few people and we could all deny actual ownership.Just think you'd have a cool old open boat just minutes from the best islands in the world and it won't be in your driveway.

Somewhat sincerely,Chris.

They told me it's definitely not usuable; for sure needs both stem and sternpost besides the trunkwork and makeup....at least 80 hours was their claim......

I've sailed this boat. It's name is Spree. It's a very nice conversion. I would have preferred a higher-peaked main, so that the center of effort didn't shift back so much when you reef, but other than that I don't have a bad word to say about it.

I was the high bidder, but was bumped off. The new high bidde hasnt hit their reserve, so I'm thinkin' they're asking too much for a basket case....Might try one more bid, but at these gas prices, it's not worth the cost of the mileage soon........

Allright Barry!!!We'll see you there!(Check private message)
If I didn't already have one crippled boat too many in my wife's driveway I would have wanted Spree for the exact same purpose.

Which way are you going when you pick her up?I'd love to see her if you're coming back via Tswassen.

Chris.

Glad to hear she's getting a good home. I'm sure she'll be a fine boat for the raid. She'll need a second, smaller jib for heavy air, in my opinion.

Thank you all for the kind responses.
Should be a good project.
I had seen Spree about two weeks ago, when I stopped at CWB to check out an Alden Cat Boat, they had. It caught my eye, and I was looking for a gaff rig anyways.

Yorgie, I sent you a PM.

Thanks, Barry
