Anyone else get theirs yet?? I haven't even looked at it but I love the cover boat!!
I forgot to mention to everyone that I also recieved a very nice calender from our good friends over at the Kirby Paint Company. I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again, that is one customer friendly business! I only spent a little over a hundred bucks with them, and they still remember me with a calender. It wasn't one of those cheap crappy calenders either, it was a historic lighthouse picture calender.
Mr. Kirby, if you're reading this, thank-you.
Everyone have a good, safe Christmas!

4 boats free, '53 36' Egg Harbor Sedan, '62 18' Century Resorter, '37 Compass-class sloop, and '62 Luhrs 30' cabin cruiser.
All way too far away for me, so they will have to go to another good home.
I guess I missed the Donn thing, should I ask what happened, or should I just quietly look the other way?
Anyway, gonna go check out the edition.

Kory...where is the Resorter? I got a free 1935 Garvey from an earlier issue. It's in my carport right now, being wooded.

Argh. Didn't come yet. I suspected that one was about due, since I've been getting strange cravings for a couple days. My FWW came yesterday, which was another tip-off.
What could be better. Christmas. I know I'll get a boating book ... probably Phil Bolger's this year ... and a fresh new WB Mag ... Some MacAllens' 18-year-old left - I'm in hog heaven. smile.gif

#170 came today. I turned to the launchings/relaunchings (p.83 top right -- Parker's 16' Eastern Shore Stick-up skiff). What a nice boat! I'm wonderin' iffn I've been good enough for Mr. Kringle to leave me one of them under the tree this year?

I think if he could get one of those, he'd use that instead of his sleigh. His reindeer could pull a wooden boat just as easy as his sleigh right?

Heh. The next project after I finish the boat is, believe it or not, a sleigh. Design is about 1/2 done.

Mine's just in, along with a good, rainy blow.
The only place I've been so far is the cover, the table of contents, and page 74. The cover photo is of a HandyBilly-like boat, but smaller, lapstrake, and with inboard power. The article is by Harry Bryan, called "Deliberate Speed and High Mileage." The featured design is called
"Rambler" (did he pay Crysler/Jeep/American Motors for the name?) and is 16'6"x4'11"x1'6" with an 8hp Yanmar. He claims 29 miles per gallon of biodiesel at 5.5 to 6 mph, running at 2500 rpm producing 3hp. He suggests a 20' version with a 2-cyl diesel could carry four adults at 6.5-7 mph and 19 mpg. An interesting sidebar on biodiesel, also by Harry.
And ohmigod, Spectre has resigned "and is now settling into a new trim as he bears off on a diverging course."
Back to the 'zine.

I feel better knowing that someone else didn't get a calendar. We've got two gallons of red lead and a gallon of white interior (plus the hat at the WB show, but I don't expect him to remember that) :(
Alas. Maybe next year we'll rate a calendar ;)
