I found these on Imagestation. I've seen these boats on land, but never under way. They are about 14 LOA. & carry about 1200 sq. ft. of sail. Typical crew is about six. I believe it is about the only formal sail boat race where you are allowed to finish with less people than you start with (if a race is very close near the finish in light air the crew will jump off the transom & give her a push as they go!). http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid37/p07a5802df54703c49dc608b277f1b3a8/fd1c328c.jpg
Oh yes, & there is one crew member who's only job is to BAIL! :D

A museum site on Bermuda which focuses on these boats has a photo sequence of one being swamped after piercing a wave. A real extreme boat.

Sheesh! and I thought I was running a lot of sail area for boat size! WOW! :eek:
