In the big tent at last summers WoodenBoat Show there was a booth selling Bad Dog Drill Bits. I usually don't fall for these kinds of sales pitches but the stuff this guy was doing was just amazing! He had a wimpy looking old drill press and he'd chuck a bit in it then drill through a big piece of oak, then a concrete block, then a piece of granite, then a piece of 1/2 inch stainless steel! Then the oak again. As I had just spent a lot of time drilling through stainlees steel fabricating the parts for my fin drive I was some impressed! I had ruined plenty of those Home Despot bits and some from the welding supply place, too.
They are wicked expensive on the web site but were a lot less at the show. If you ever see these guys at a show check them out. Has anyone tried these?
