Hey John B, look what I scored on Ebay:

More than I wanted to pay, but not too bad. I have extra springs and pawls for it.

The bit that is absolutely C****y on these is the button that holds the handle in. The pawls and springs last for ever, but that little button and the little spring that goes with it are unworthy of the rest of it.
Don't ask me how I know that. ;)

ACB....I'm not sure whether Uncas' are Murrays...basically very similar...and yes...that button has driven me bonkers on more than one occasion.... And that includes the spring mechanism...
Yep, my button is gone on one of them, hence nothing to hold in my handle. I'm glad I didn't loose the handle when it went. I still have the little pin & spring though, so I plan on drilling and tapping it. Probably use a 1953 penny for the button on top.
This winch might just be used for parts, but it seemed like a good deal, though with 2 minutes to go it was only $59...good old ebay...

Yup...came close to losing the winch handle on my main halyard winch...First time wacked my knee with it and almost dropped it overboard...Luckily my father taught me never to let go of those things under any circumstances. On pain of being keelhauled... :D or at least a dive for it...

You bet it's a good deal! I've just checked the prices, and resolved to treat my pair of size 5's with more respect!

I recently sold a pair for $NZ 176.00 It seems I should have hung out for more.
Murry winches are still aviable brand new from a company called white star products here in NZ.... the same company does cleveco and a few others.... nothing beats Murry brass jib hanks.
