Boats from India (pics)

Dhananjay, one of my colleagues in Bangalore, sent me some pics of wooden boats from Kerala, India. The boat race is the Champakkulam Boat Race, held in Alappuzha. The large boat he just calls Uru Bepur, which he says translates to Big Boat. The small boat which is in the gondola style is called a ThiruvonaThoni, which means A small boat which holds the pride of carrying Thiruvonathappan(A Legendary Hero).

Wow, those are long boats.It looks like there are nearly 200 paddlers on each one.
