We too, got American cars until approximately 1968 when some import tax stopped it. I had early Fords... 34 fordor, 39 deluxe coupe , 2 Model 'A's , 55 chev, 59 Pontiac, 67 impala. Still got a 46 jailbar (flatty and all).. All r hand drive and mostly built in Canada.
The next american to come in any quantity was in about 1995 when the Cherokee arrived to much joy( of the importer). Since then ,the rest of the jeep range, Voyagers, an announcement that the Viper is coming, and loads of Explorers. Lots of classic imports here though and there is exemptions for LHD for them.

Apparently you guys need to have an exemption or convert to RHD to be legal. No such nonsense here. I used to drive a RHD International Scout. The Federales in USA could care less whether LHD or RHD. Always was 'fraid to drive that Scout even after drinking ONE beer.
