View Full Version : Lt Governor Louisiana
We must remain focused on saving lives and caring for our families now spread across America. Now is not the time for politics and finger pointing. Mother Nature is not partisan and we must not be political. The blame game will not save lives and, frankly, it is beneath us as a nation.Chad

A point well taken.
Alan
agreed, I promise not to blame the terrorists in Iraq.

I call it something else.... it's a rather novel concept, rarely seen these days.... it's called:
Accountability and responsibility.
Is it a 'blame game' to ask Scott McClellan if the President still has full faith in Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown? It's a pretty simple question: either he DOES have faith in them, or he doesn't...
Yet, Scott McClellan used the 'blame game' excuse at David Gregory (MSNBC correspondant), when Gregory asked the simple question. Gregory asked the question 4 or 5 times in a row... and McClellan refused to answer, except to use the phrase 'blame game' over and over.
The very idea of trying to suppress or deflect criticism of performance of a public official ought to be an anathema to every American... and there's NO improper time to do so. Holding our leaders accountable and responsible won't stop one firefighter or National Guard troop from doing what they are doing now. If we can't expect our leaders to take accountability and responsibility seriously, then who CAN we trust to keep us safe?

So its not surprising that FEMA, under the management and control of political campaign operatives, actually put their first priority on political events, staged political events and PR, rather than, um, rescuing the dying. Thats all they know, they know PR, they know Bush looked heroic surrounded by firemen in NY on 9/13, so they made sure to fly in some firemen to stand around him in New Orleans. That they know how to do. But they obviously know nothing about emergency management.
So there is a downside to appointing incompetent people to patronage jobs for which they have no experience.I guess you wouldn't call this post pointing fingers? ;)

And you'll keep losing.
Dan
Norm, I'm all for accountabilty and responsbility, but at this point people need help. This type of finger pointing is a morale breaker for people on the ground trying to help.
Chad
edited to add: So as you don't think that I'm trying to stick up for the republican party, the Lt Gv. is a democrat.
