Update on the planking of the Ken Bassett Designed Rascal (3 years into project). Finished planking bottom and Topsides. Just finished installing cover boards http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid150/p6d826428fe118161326d7f34882179d9/f5e0067a.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid150/p953445a222cfbc5faf7e52b36341970d/f5e0067e.jpg . Hope to start installing planks on deck in the next few week. Latest price for pattern grade Honduran Mahogany $9.40 a board/ft. When I started the project, it was $5.40 a board ft. Still marching toward a June Launch!

Okay, here are a few more pictures, even though the epoxy is still curing, but here's the very latest showing the untrimmed coverboards installed. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid150/pc977099eda77493c281f0f5f29ee9475/f5dff689.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid150/p10ccc5d469fbcf9f567d0c9e6c836bc3/f5dff68f.jpg All outer layer planking is resawn 1/4" planks from 4/4 boards, so the deck planks and cover boards are symmetrical using boards from the same plank. The 1/4" mahogany is epoxied over the 4 mm Shelman Okoume plywood deck, which has been extensively faired, as recommended by the designer. Fairing done using West Systems epoxy mixed with 407 and 410 filler.
