Only 20 days to the start of training camp. I'm ready, what about you?

What about minor league football? Anyone ever watch them? We got our own minor league team here in Chattanooga, but I've never seen them play. Chattanooga Steam (http://www.steamfootball.com/)

And what about Women's pro football? We also got one of them. They are the 2003 and 2004 Undefeated Southern Division Champions.
Chattanooga Locomotion (http://www.chattanoogalocomotion.com/)

What I don't understand is that we have this nice new stadium that is struggling to make ends meet. A college team that only posted one or two wins last year and can hardly draw a crowd. But these 2 teams mentioned above play at a high school field. You would reckon that they would play at our nice new stadium and try to generate more fan support.

It costs money to play a game at that stadium, and if they don't think that they can generate enough ticket revenue to at least break even...

I've been meaning to put a football post out here for us to start chewing on...

Chad,

For as much as I don't like the Falcons, I consider you a friend to a higher degree, thus I say to you. "YOU DON'T WANT MICHAEL RICKS IN YOUR STARTING LINE-UP!" There is nothing more worthless in this world than a receiving tight-end who can't catch. I feel bad enough that you've taken Detmer, I couldn't bear the guilt of dumping Ricks on your poor dirty birds as well...

Preseason Pick:

Lions: 8-8, and in the playoffs! (Although they will be ousted in the first game.)

Jeff he is not showing up as a transaction or on our depth chart. Is there a rumor I don't know about.

Our latest transactions involve signing QB David Rivers (Berlin Thunder) and TE Justin Swift (not active last year).

Hadn't heard about that.

but he would not be a good fit with the Falcons since he is not considered a good blocker. If he can't block and he can't receive, what good is he?

That's the question that I asked so many times last year.

Yea, I think the Lions can win 7 or 8 games this year ... would be nice to see Mooch get into the playoffs in his second year, whilst the 49ers are looking at about 4-12!!!!

I think the Rams will go 11-5 or 10-6 this year ... not sure how they'll fare in the playoffs, though!

Can't wait for playoffs!!!!

Chad-chad-chad-chad-chad...

Do we have to listen to this AGAIN this year?

You want to talk passing? Let's talk receiving.

Let's see, we've got....

on one side, and ...

on the other.

And look for this guy to do some damage his rookie season as well...

Forget him?

http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/ncf/2001/1105/photo/a_duckett_i.jpg

I watched him hang 212 yards on a UofM team that allowed under 1000 yards rushing for the season.

Although he looked a bit trimmer in those days. Can you believe that MSU recruited him as a middle LB originally? He switched to tailback before the halfway point of his freshman year.

So you ain't going to tell me who that last one is, huh? Guess I'll do a little looking and see what I can find.

From what I've found this is Kevin Jones (RB) from Virgina Tech.

In 37 games, he carried 616 times for 3,475 yards (5.6 avg.) and 35 touchdowns
Had serious issues securing the ball (high amount of fumbles) Did you guys get him?

I'm hoping that Will Overstreet can stay healty this year.

Hard-nosed, relentless player who leaves everything he has out on the field?Returning from a season-ending left shoulder injury that limited him to two games played.Chad

TL-

What's the word on the Cowboy's receiving corp this season? Seems like there was some off-season juggling going on.

Oh, I thought that you guys wanted to talk about football. And yet I see no mention whatsoever of my beloved, most glorious, Crimson Tide of the The University of Alabama.

Our guys report the first week in August, and lace 'em up for real September 4th, in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I can not wait. It's getting to be that time.

Actually the Pack has a big following down here on the Gulf Coast (at least the northern Gulf) because of the glory days when Bart Starr was there, and now with Brett Favre. Brett is from Kiln, near Pass Christian, Mississippi, and has a lot of family around here.

I know that Favre is my favorite NFL player. If everybody had his zest for playing the game it would be a lot more fun to watch. He and Elway may be the last of a breed. Favre actually came back from a terrible car crash to lead USM to a win over Alabama his senior year. If I am not mistaken he lost his spleen in the accident. He is a tough guy, always has been. The league will be a lot less interesting to many of us when he's gone.

Ha! I knew we'd get along, Paul. Those mighty Utah State Ags better look out, eh? I say that, but of course I was in the stands last year when we lost to Northern Illinois.

Well, hope springs eternal, and I was born pretty optimistic it would seem. I am looking forward to this year. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky. It would be about time, wouldn't it?

Last time I rooted for your 'Tide, they fell short against them damn Wolverines. (Stupid animal.)

Hope they do better should they face them again.

Go Spartans!

Now the wars can start. Seems like we got some more Bama fans out there. That's okay, the Vols will show them what football is really about. ;)

Of course I am kinda worried about our quarterback. Seems we've got that other Clausen boy. Don't know who will win the position. Will it be Rick Clausen or CJ Leak or maybe even James Banks. Although I think Banks is needed at wide reciever and Clausen is only a freshman. So it should be Leak.

Go Vols!

To correct my post above. Clausen is not a freshman, but rather a Juinor transfer from LSU.

Chad

bamamick
07-12-2004, 04:49 PM
Yeah, Chad. We remember young Mr.Clausen from the LSU-Bama game two years ago. He came in for about a quarter. Kind of a deer-in-the-headlights performance. I don't know how badly you guys need Banks at wideout, but you probably need him worse at quarterback. He's looked pretty good there from what I've seen. As far as UTenn showing us how to play football, we'll just wait 'til October and find that out. Looking forward to it.

Beo - I honestly don't know about the Cowboys receivers. I'm up in the midwest and don't hear much. I just continue to keep the faith.

That's cool.

Spartans are looking a little thin at QG as well. Don't know about this Drew Stanton. Everyone thinks he'll be good "next year." But ask me about our defense. We may very well win our share of games this season, but it's gonna be like watching the old NFC North division again. We might get outscored by the Tigers.
