I get the feeling that the GulfWar did wake a sleepting giant and we're lumbering across the middle east swinging that club. Don't get me wrong,,everything about Saddam is as close to an evil dictatorship as one could describe. But the triggering mechanism for the iraq war is as much a function of US circumstances as Iraqs. Hopefully the countries, tribes, political factions, religions, gov'ts stay with the status quo and stay at odds with each other and
don't find another Saddam, OBL or similar movement to focus on the US more.. oh hell I guess that's a given with an occupation. Time to really crank up the psy-ops/diplomacy. Kind of ironic when you think about it how GW was ridiculed for lack of international experience or knowledge and now with resourses moving from Europe and S.Korea to the Middle East we're really going to be in the thick of it.
Maybe this is too simplistic but If the US brings a real resolution for Palestinians in Israel it would be the best way to de-fang the fundamentalists and put their focus back on their own gov'ts,,,where they have been the greatest threat all along.
