I am amazed to see what topics are posted on this forum. Some make me mad, some make me laugh, some are just ignored because of being irrelevant to just about anything...
So just for fun post some topics that are irrelevant like:
your favorite sandwich,
when is the last time you clipped your toe nails...
What are cats thinking...
just crap like that, then maybe, just maybe we can get these out of our systems
GO WILD

Whether or not a topic is relevant is irrelevant.

Cat's are always thinking of when to take their next nap
I haven't clipped my toe nails in 10 yrs.

OK, I saw tiger in a cage once and I'm sure it was thinking 'Is he within reach yet?'

Now that I am painting the topsides; I have noticed a dozen or so different types of insects habitating there. The boat is outside under covers and we have a light on all night for security. The insects would gather in any case because we are in a rural setting amid rainforest and cultivated land (sugarcane) nearby. Despite meticulous cleaning prior to painting, it seems that lots of little beetles and mothy types are attracted to the fresh paint. I wonder why this is so?????
If I had a macro lens on my camera some of these would make worthwhile photographic studies (especially the 'jumping spiders'). Some have such wild crazy colour schemes. I'm always so careful as to give each and every insect a chance to move away from my painting (it's the Buddhist in me) but some of them are so determined to commit suicide by walking straight into the wet paint....arghhhh!!!! what a death!!! And if I try and 'pick' them up, they get squashed because they are so tiny!!!!
It's a dilemma - I know.

Try turning the lights out on the days you paint? I know, it seems so simple. smile.gif
Insect screening couldn't cost much.

Certain insects love the outgas from paint. They are "programed" to follow the hydrocarbon vapor trail from cattle, etc., and the VOC signature from good quality boat paint must seem like the mother of all cows!

With little insects R Whitman tells us to leave them alone 'til the paint/varnish dries then, with care, break their little legs one at a time and set them free,,,,, shorter but wiser.
Isn't £20 a little expensive for a wash and trim at the dog grooming parlour ? My tri-monthly haircut only costs a fiver,,,,,,,,
