I'd like to hear about painting experiences from those with dynel decks.

Kirby has the best color selection for sure, but will a traditional oilbase paint be suitable over epoxy?

Thanks all.

I used Kirby's on the decks/cabin top of a Bridges Point 24 I used to own and it worked/looked great. I'd recommend that you apply a bit of thinner to this paint and make a couple/few passes as Kirby's goes on fairly thick.

Forgot to mention that this was over Dynel.

I've had very good luck with Rustoleum, although colors are limited. I use white. Kirby's is "finestkind," but perhaps pricey for a somewhat sacrificial application. Decks take a beating. The Rustoleum has good abrasion resistance, which was why I picked it. Once you have a base coat on the Dynel and epoxy, you can lightly sand the "fuzz" off the Dynel and it will give you the finish you want. If you want a smooth finish, first lay down a thin coat of epoxy and sanding additive (microballoons or whatever) and then sand that smooth before painting. Don't lay the deck paint down any thicker than you have to. You will find it wears and will need recoating more often than other applications. You want to minimize the buildup if you can.
