How much troble will I cause if I put a stainless steel safety collar on a bronze rudder? I can't seem to find a source for 3/4 bronze safety collars. Thanks CM

Depends on the quality of the bronze and the stainless but there's not much action between them anyway. I wouldn't worry about it just keep a eye on it for a few years.
That's one opinion.

There are a helluva lot of boats with bronze props on stainless shafts. If it's submerged then whacking a bit of magnesium on it should prevent any problems. If it's well above water then it shouldn't matter.
What's a 'safety collar' anyway? Perhaps I should wear one when I go out drinking? Or is it something that wives put on their husbands to keep track of them?

A good Austenitic Stainless Steel (18/8 - 410, 416) is pretty close (Galvanic Series) to both Silicone & Manganese Bronze - so should not present much of a corrosion potential.
You could add an extra measure of safety by insulating/.isolating the S/S Collar from the Bronze Shaft. Try something like Starbright "Liquid Electrical Tape" or 3M Skotchkoat "#1602/1603".
