Arbor Day - Plant a Tree! (http://www.arborday.org/)

Sorta snuck up on me. But this year, I got a place to plant some nice little white pines.

I'm going to stick a bunch of acorn and hicory nuts in the ground (about a hundred each),and see what happens...kinda a tribute to "The Man Who Planted Trees".

I planted a white oak yesterday. I going to cut it down when it's a hundred years or so, and build a schooner for my old age.

Also planted an American Chestnut. smile.gif

I have planted over 5000 trees on my farm, so I feel good.

...and the award goes to: hoss. I think you might have me beat by a thousand or so.

A piece of ground that can accept 5000 trees must have been pretty bald. Clearcut, maybe?
Christmas trees? Pulpwood trees?
Those type of projects usually don't have any dendrological diverity and are not what Arbor Day is all about.

Today I did not build a wooden boat. Perhaps some tree will live a few hours more because of that.
