Sorry folks.

Slacking a little bit. My dad came down for the weekend so I didn't take the time to put together an entry for Saturday.

So lets get the ball rolling with Saturday's work.

The second floor joists and subfloor went on, today. Wooden I-joists, and Load Bearing Laminated Beams-a-plenty.

Climbed on up and took a couple of snapshots. This one is to the South

...and to the North...

As for today...

I didn't get there until 2:00 after dropping the thesis off in East Lansing. The crew had put up the sheeting and then went off to another job for a while. They returned and we were off and running. We did manage to frame in the garage.

We went with the standard height (7 feet) but we increased the width to 9 feet for the garage doors.

The front took some additional work as we had lengthed the garage. We had to figure out the new placement for the windows so that they would still line up with the gable that will be above.

Not bad for a half day's work.

2nd floor is tomorrow!

Nine feet high, Jeff. Ten or twelve would be even better. :D Longer, too.

And, it costs little more...

One of those might not be a garage--- it might be ...a boatshop. And, you may need that room overhead.

Believe me, the boatshop is in the plan. (By that I mean that it WILL be built before we move in!) We're just waiting for the zoning board to come around and see things our way... ;)

As for trees. We'll be planting a few as soon as the grade is finished.

Thanks again for the kind words.
