My feeling in this matter are keeping me from making a decision. who whom do I owe alegance too? and what is the best course?
I deliver newspapers. it is my steady cash flow especally in the winter but not enough to survive on.
I am an indipendant contracter working for a distributer (DT) who is indipendant of the paper. (NP)
I worked for another distributer before the current one who kept my on when they took over. unfortinutely the pay went down 3 or 4 thousand a year its come back but sometimes when I get distracted by other work that I need to keep up with bills I get cut on what the current DT pays me. they are not making a profit on this route just some wages
( me about 300$ and them 100$ a week)
I have been doing an adiquate job for the adiquate pay. I see things I could do the better the route, I also see changes the DT could make to net some profit
the DT is over streached and I offered to buy the route for the 100$ a week they are now making as wages, for a year. he said he would talk it over with other people in the DT company ,
A large number of the vending machines are not working. some of it is natural winter cold problem but much of it is lack of maintance. worse their are machines that have been broken for months. further the paper would like to have less than 25% unsold papers is currently getting between 50 and 60% often because of over stocking that the DT should be correcting.
I have talked to the paper so they know if the route ever opens I would like it. I am held in good esteam by the paper's distric manager.
delema I could compile a report on the machines. if I do should I give it to the DT in hopes they repair the problems maybe even asking for compensation for the extra effort of compiling the report. most if not all information has been submitted over time but not in one place or should I submit the report to the paper. and pitch them that as a route owner rather than contract labor I will not only keep the machines in better repair not the least bcause it will be my one and only route insteed of man but because I will work harder to serve the customers better since I can't count on other routes subsidising this one if customers are unhappy.
thankyou for your thoughts
