I don't know about you all but MJC's dredging up of every one of my old threads was an epiphany for me. Ya know Seeing them all like that I have to say, not a bad collection. I do say some fine work. Most, if not all the threads I have started were good hearted in nature and most had great responses. It was very nice to see the collection as a whole. All in all I think it paints me in a much more favorable light. Some mild political spats but generally lots of love and fun.

Obviously JOE, you didn't read your own BS until now. Personally, I found 3 pages of you nuaseating and a direct reason why this forum continues to degrade.

What is it Barry is restoring? Oh yea - a Canadian lifeboat. Bet there is some interesting stuff there. I wonder what it looks like. Double ender, do you suppose? Wonder what he is using that locust for...
Too bad we won't know. And we won't know because Joe and Mike needed to indulge in an insane witch hunt.
Not to worry I am told, because "Barry sounds like a pansy".
I will give it a rest when I am content, Joe. Enjoy the fruits of your labors.

Excellent. What do you see for a boot stripe? What do you suppose the displacement is? And I am still curious if it's a double ender.
Since you have arbitrarily denied us the ability to query him directly, I think you owe the forum some answers about this stuff. Just my opinion, of course.

RossWhy poor form??? You asked a B&R question and that is where it belongs. More poor form to post a B&R question down here, Barry should have known that ;)

No other posts yet, Joe.
I would really like to see a picture of Barry's boat.
Not a boat like Barry's, but Barry's boat itself.
Do you have a plan for getting one? I hate to keep reminding you of this, but you probably owe us one.
I would bet $5 bucks we would have seen one well before now if you had not driven him off with that take no prisoners/break all the rules to win/unbelievable ferocity thing you have told us about so often...

I am not playing patty-cakes with you Joe.
Your actions have denied the forum useful, pertinent information.
That you value Barry's project so lowly is a bit sad, IMO.
I think I have tired of corresponding with you tonight, and you really don't seem to be making much progress towards the goal. Maybe we will discuss it further tomorrow.

I just don't get it. To me, JCSOH is alright. He openly shares his life with us, the good and the bad, from when he was bartending and trying to keep his house, to his success in a new career as a realtor. He is honest about it when he is angry, honest about it when he is happy. He is opinionated, sometimes flies of the handle, and more often than anyone I can think of, openly admits it and apologizes when he sees that he was wrong. Just like someone you'd call a friend in real life.
What happened I do not know, I saw nothing that I took exception to. If I post a fiercely opinionated cut and paste that I know that some people will vigorously disagree with, I am prepared for the responses. Thats called being a grown up and being prepared to deal with the expected conequences of your actions.
The response here to what I consider fair and strong reponses to strong opinions being posted is, quite frankly, whiny. Its the response so many conservatives accuse liberals of having, "oh, you have to be sensitive to my feelings, I should be able to ridicule your beliefs and not have to back up my assertions." Its also sorta passive aggressive, "Oh, its not me, I was just posting what someone else wrote." If you don't want to weather the responses when you post what someone else wrote, don't post it. I have respect for those who post their opinions, no matter how much I might disagree, if they own up to the fact that is what they think and are prepared to defend it.
But when a drive-by cut and paster who lacks the fortitude to endure the controversy he or she has created turns tail and run, I will shed no tears for them.

Ross, did you ever hear the phrase: "That thing will never heal if you don't quit picking at it!"
You obviously are taking some kind of measured satisfaction in slowing peeling back a scab, again, and again.
If you're so concerned and interested in Barry, won't don't you email him? Quit licking your wounds in public. This is embarassing, as I think that Barry is an educated, grown man and can fend for himself.
Karen and Mike have already been in touch by email and made their peace and apologies in a friendly manner.
Can you do the same?

Your character witness post is sweet. Unfortunately, it is also irrelevant. Your witness was not privy to any of the pertinent info, by his own admission.

I realize I am pressing an issue on your drinking/tractor polo/barbeque buddy, and I have some regrets about that. Nontheless, your friend has brought this upon himself. He has no right to control the membership, and as far as I know I have every right to object.
Sue
I don't have Barry's email address. And if I did, would it really be appropriate for me to apologize on behalf of Mike and Joe?
This is a very straightforward thing. When Mike and Joe's evil cycles achieve synchronicity, they end up damaging the forum itself, not just the immediate target of thier distain. I have tired of it, after all these years.
As far as Mike's apologies go, he has severely undermined his latest at least a half dozen times in the last two days.
I must confess that I am curious about one thing - If Barry should be left to fend for himself, why not Mike and Joe?

RossDon't look now, Ross, but they do fend for themselves, and very nicely. And actually, they've both been "driven" to take time away from the board, but have gotten over it like grown men and come back. They're both good guys, too.
Barry's got a friend on here, why not get his email from him? You seem very fond of him. As to apologizing for Mike or Joe, I never suggested such a thing. There's no reason you should apologize for anyone, other than yourself, if necessary.
I don't recall Barry being particularly shy or retiring, either. He posted some real late night diatribes on here and could be a real stinker at times, as can many of us.
I remember the first email we ever got from him was one telling Mike to get back onto the forum in some fight thread because someone was gunning for him. We didn't even know who Barry was, and had to look up his profile. I never got the impression that he shied away from fights.
Many of us have suffered personal attacks, threats, stalkings, and disagreements on here, and we've all lived to tell the tale. There's no discrimination on who gets the short end of sticks around here, because there's plenty of short sticks to go around.
Heck, StanV accused ME of being Dutch for awhile, and though it made me mad, I didn't go around sulking about it for long. He and I went through a phase of exchanging potshots, but then we got over it. We just didn't happen to be people with much in common, which is ok.
Some of us get over it and go on. Some nurse their wounds for months and months in a way that's psychologically unhealthy, IMHO.
Karen and Charles, to their credit, bounced back within a day or so. That's resiliency. If Barry wants to go away mad, then that's his choice as a 30+ year old robust, educated man.
Why approach life with a sense of "lack" instead of looking at it with a spirit of "plenty?"
At any rate, we're cleaning out the workshop/studio today and playing old Beatles records on the stereo. I'm taking an air-conditioned break. Life is still good. Look around. smile.gif

While I do not agree that pointing fingers in other directions represents effective "fending"; you have introduced me to compelling new information regarding the nature of Barry. Thank you for that.
Mike & Joe
Sue's closing comments have convinced me move on. Please, please remember that these types of actions have negative effects on the forum, not just your targets.
