I went out this morning and dropped $200 on some WRC planks and 4x4's for a new compost bin. The finished structure will be sitting on 2x pressure treated shoes.

Should I bother CPES'ing the ends of the lumber? Just the post bottoms? All of it? The unit will remain unfinished for at least a year, after which I may seal it with something.

Good grief. I've got a 20+ year old WRC cedar in the Swamp and it's naked and it's still here. Good boat lumber in a compost bin?

How about a gallon for Flood's Clear Wood Finish? Cheap and fast.

Waste of money.

If there's any white sapwood, tho, you might apply some copper napthanate to the sap and adjacent heartwood.

Copper napthenate is the stuff in Cuprinol, right? Clear Cuprinol was what I was thinking about using after the wood silvers up a bit. A few of the boards have a thin bit of sapwood on the edge.

Correct.
