3rd Infantry was at Al Qaqaa on April 4

NBC is now saying that the 3rd Infantry was at Al Qaqaa on April 4th. They did not look for the explosives.

The White House said that the explosives disappeared "somtime after April 9th."

U.S. troops were there at least five days before the explosives disappeared.

The 101st Airborne was there on April 10th, but did not look for the explosives.

The explosives were first missed on May 27th.

The explosives were there on March 15.

The 3rd Infantry was there on April 4 and did only a "cursory" search.

The facility was left unguarded until the 101st Airborne arrived on April 10th. They did not search. They stayed less than 24 hours - and left it unguarded when they left.

Orders were not given from higher to search or to secure the facility or to search for HE type munitions, as they (high-explosive weapons) were everywhere in Iraq.Chris Tomlinson is an AP reporter who was embedded with the 3rd Infantry:


"The enormous size of the bases, the rapid pace of the advance on Baghdad and the limited number of troops involved, made it impossible for U.S. commanders to allocate any soldiers to guard any of the facilities after making an initial check."
