a little pine tar to tung oil finishes? I want to add a small amount of pine tar to the next tung oil wipe-down of the interiior teak. Just for the aroma. Does anyone know (opinions welcome) what will happen? I think my biggest fear is it will be/stay a sticky mess.
Thanks, Ed

With a small enough amount added you should be able to get away with it. See if the tung oil dries with almost none added, and work your way up to where it begins to interfere with drying, then back off by a factor of three and you should be okay. This is for interior use only, I presume......What we are talking about will degrade relatively rapidly in sunlight.

Thanks, yep, interior only. I was hoping you answer. Thanks again, Ed

Would a little Japan drier do the trick? Or would it kill the odor he wants?

Ed, I know what you mean about that pine-tar aroma smile.gif I smell it & I hear sea gulls and the hiss of a wake. Maybe just soak a piece of felt w/ it and hang it up where no one will bump into it.

Wyh not just get a hank of tarred marline and keep it aboard? Who knows you might find a use for it,,,,,,,,,,,
