From CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/12/04/gay.teens.dance.ap/index.html)

A principal who wants gay couples to get permission slips from their parents before they can attend school dances promised to re-evaluate the policy after protesters held four days of protests."Separate but Equal" is not equal.

It's interesting to note that the one gay student mentioned in the article enjoys the support of both of his parents. Obtaining the permission slip is not the issue. Being required to obtain the permission slip is the issue.

Are permission slips required for interracial couples? Inter-faith couples?

The school says the policy stems from concern of harassment. Let responsibility fall on those who harass. Rather than register gay couples as they walk through the door, why not register gay-bashers? Ask them to fill out a form indicating whether or not it is their intent to pass judgement on others and assault them.

The high school prom was over rated in my opinion.
Not really worth the trouble or expence.
I had way better parties at home, while my parents were out of town. ;) :D

This is outrageous; an article comes from Utah with no mistakes in spelling.
