Them three photos you posted on the "boring" thread made me winse a bit.
I think of you as a pal here but I was rethinking it a bit, seeing that our preferences in a very important way of looking at the world are quite different.
With this collage and the highlight in the black silky thing I'm OK again.

I was thinking I'd have like to been with you at this opening. We might have got tossed out.

Got me thinking about womens and bras (I usually think of a lot less). It's always confused me as to why women never want to be seen in bras. Even though bikini tops are usually much skimpier. Even in places where it's O.K. to be topless and / or nude. Women subtley slide their bras off under their clothes, before exposing themselves. I've asked of course, even girls that I've known really well. I always get the same "roll eyes" look. As in "isn't it obvious".
Well no it's not.

Well, in the South, I was raised with the adage "A lady is never seen in public without a bra."

For the life of me, I can't remember the rule regarding wearing only a bra....

Did posting the lovely and sexy bride have anything to do with her coming across images of the curly one?

I was taking sheets and pillows out to the dog house, and he suddenly remembered there were pictures of me. Coincidence? I think not! :D

We had a great time, and Beale Street was cookin!

edited to add: here's the guy I had my eye on all night. I couldn't let him out of my sight! ;)

He tried to pose with the Elvis statue on Beale, and when he jumped the railing, an alarm set off and bellowed something to the effect of "You have crossed a barrier and the authorities have been notified!" It was so funny, and the cop a stone's throw away never even looked up. It must happen 50 times a night. -Sue

Joe,I don't blame you for going after Dutch but Barry he ain't.I've just met the real Barry,he lives on Gabriola Island and he builds and repairs wooden boats. There is nothing in Barry's personality that reflects Dutch's.These misdirected attacks on Barry have driven him off of the forum.

I'll be providing him with some locust stems for the gaff lifeboat he just bought and hopefully I'll be sailing with his family and friends this summer.

Its all about Barry

Who the hell knows if the Barry that yorgie met is not the Dutch/Barry we all know and love Who knows anything for sure about Dutch.

I think if we KNEW who Dutch was he might have a lot less splaining to do. But as it is Dutch/Barry has lied and made up enough names to render his opinion totally useless. Oh and if another Barry ran off scared then he wasn't a true sailor to begin with. He sounds a little thin skined to me

Gareth,

Bras are part of a woman's privacy, her "unmentionables". Bikini tops are meant for the beach! Completely different psychologies; no matter the amount of skin exposed. Would you go walking around in public in your boxers? How 'bout a pair of trunks? There is something, psychologically, more private about our underwear.

I'm glad to see there is a lively arts scene in Memphis, but I think the previous rules are probably worthy.

I know, I know, rebelliousness, daring even! People think it's new. Circa 1937 Katherine Hepburn was having a tiff with the costume department on some film. She wanted to wear pants, they wanted dresses. It came to a head and they took away her pants. She made a big splash parading through the studio offices in her underwear. Don't know if she got her pants back, but I wager she did. :D

One of the photographic series in the show was of different young art students wearing bras with various outfits. It was reminiscent of Cindy Sherman's "Film Stills" series. It was really striking, and included a table with pre-printed cards on which you filled in the blank:

" Last night I dreamed I ______________________
_______________________________________________
in my Maidenform bra."

and then you added your card to the board. All of the girls that took part in the series were wearing bras with their outfits, and it was funny because they were the old pointy bras from the 50's and 60's.

The young Chinese-American artist (see the first photo) that was serving wine at the snack table was wearing his regular clothes one minute, and then he stepped away and came back wearing that bra! It was so comical because he is so straight, and was such a good sport. His tips improved dramactically and everyone starting stuffing dollar bills in his bra.

It was one of the most enjoyable art openings I've ever been to. It was the graduating BFA's at my college, and the gallery space was awesome.

You wouldn't know it from this photo, but the gallery was packed, upstairs and down.

in the book by cyril rivers about girls at a cathlic highschool circa 1950s they had the picture of the nun who founded the order that ran the school under it was writted " Last night I dreamed I was cannonized in my maidenform bra"

the only problem with walking around in boxers is when they flat openo or things fall out. thus jocky shorts are better

Margo, the rule about only wearing a bra is this one - you don't go out in public in your underwear. ;) smile.gif I remember when you never let your slip show either - not even the lacy bottom. Then everybody quit wearing slips. :D

Memphis Mike
04-17-2005, 09:24 AM
Yeah Karen, remember "It's snowing down south"? :D

Mike read this and drew a blank. When your petticoat (slip) lace was showing beneath your dress or skirt, that's what we girls whispered to each other to signal that you needed to hike your slip up out of sight.
