Greetings,
I have fabricated a wooden "male" form for my keel bulb and would like to make a mold to pour the lead into. The keel will weigh around 290 lbs when finished so it is not particularly large. My initial thoughts were to cast contrete around the pattern (it splits in half around the parting line) inside a wooden box. Is this an ok choice? How about plaster of paris? What should I use (if anything) as a mold release for the pattern? Should I coat it in vasolene? Cover it with very thin plastic?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
