No it's a lake we go to in Mississippi Jeffry. It's called Arkabutla. I don't much care for it because it's muddy as hell but it's big enough to be uncrowded most of the time.

In the evenings and right about sunset, it's pretty though. The water appears to be black at those times.

I sailed Lightnings on that lake one time. Only sailed (I think) one race over the whole weekend because of lack of wind. I guess that you've got to use the water that's available, but if I lived around many of these southern lakes I probably would have been a bass fisherman rather than a sailor.

Great hospitality, though. Went to a mansion in Germantown, met many nice people. When invited to attend the 'function' that night I told our host that we did not bring proper attire for a formal gathering (three college kids in an old van). He told me that 'oh, it's quite informal'. When the BUTLER answered the door as we arrived in our tee shirts and sneakers he just grinned when I told him that we must be in the wrong place. The entire party, other than ourselves, was dressed in coat and tie, with the ladies in cocktail dresses (do they still say that?). Apparently their definition of formal and mine were two differnt things. Regardless, we made quite a statement with our faded jeans. After an hour the guys all stripped off their ties, and one told me that he always wondered why they had to get so dressed up for those parties.

A good time up there. We took showers under a hand pump where the water came from the lake. One guy pumped the handle for another. Camped out. A good regatta trip. I miss those days.

That's out of the ordinary for this lake Bama. It's usually real windy and choppy but was rather calm today.

The sailing club here in Memphis has a lot of their races there.

BTW, we never go to Germantown. It smells a little too bad out there for us. :D ;)

It's "Payson" Pat. It's a Diablo that I built in 2000.
