 ...YES....the Munchers are here eating at night while I sleep. The best part too....the buds of my new rose bushes....gardening is all new to me...so this comes as a shock; the critters having the nerve of crossing into my yard.

SO the mystery is..WHERE DO THEY COME FROM???...I assume they start from an egg and get fertilized some how..They are never seen eating my weeds...till I started with roses I had never seen any....any one have the info on the little green monsters?

Thank you...will go to garden center.

So the worm eggs are being flown by "Moth Airways"..and unloaded .....outta New York state perhaps.

This would explain why the first two I have seen so far were discovered at the top of the bush....nothing below was munched..

Does anyone know what bug chomps maple leaves off at the stem, causing them to flutter down and carpet the backyard?

Now the real question is: Is there Anything that Donn doesn't know!? :D
You, sir, are AMAZING! I bow at your feet, and ask that you cast some of your golden wisdom upon my unworthy soul...

Donn; That's them. Thanks. Since this attack is not likely to kill or even seriously damage the trees, I'll cross the maple leaf drop off my 'worry' list and leave them alone.

My daughter's working for a forest entomologist from the U of M School of Natural Resources. We were talking to him at a reception, and he said that we could 'survive' the emerald ash borer destruction, but his nightmare is something that kills maple trees.
